Introduction
Gas2Liquids is an energy company operating in the petroleum sector. We are the first Licensed Wholesaler in South Africa with License number W/2006/0001.
The Petroleum Products Amendment Act, 2003 (PPAA) Act 58 of 2003 provides for a licensing system whereby the Controller for petroleum products issues licenses for manufactured wholesalers and retailers (site licenses are associated with retail licenses).
The Department of Minerals and Energy (DME) in terms of legislation and policy, accredits black wholesalers and designates those who comply in terms of the Oil Charter, as Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) wholesalers. In terms of the amended Import Policy which is now gazetted, only Licensed Manufacturers and HDSA Wholesalers can import prescribed petroleum products into South Africa.
Gas2Liquids, an accredited HDSA wholesaler, is the first non oil major to import petroleum products into RSA.
We are currently importing Low Sulphur Diesel from Matola, Mozambique via Komatiepoort into South Africa and export petroleum products into the overland African market.
We are initially focusing on the diesel market but in the future will offer a bouquet of products which will include Jet Fuel, Mogas (different grades), diesel and LPG. Our strategic development includes the construction of inland Customer own Collection – (COC) depot facilities and a multi-product coastal import terminal in Richards Bay
